A big delivery arrived in Charlotte earlier this month as the city got its first in-person look of the new streetcars that will run along the Gold Line when it opens. Charlotte’s Gold Line streetcar service that runs through the heart of Elizabeth and will have a future stop just minutes from the Towers at Mattie Rose at 8th St & Hawthorne Lane will have 6 brand new modern streetcars. They look similar to the CATS Blue Line vehicles, but are a little shorter with 52 seats. They also have hybrid technology. Streetcar service is currently closed while workers “raise the existing stop platforms for level boarding with the new, modern streetcars and upgrade power on the current Gold Line,” CATS officials When service opens in late 2020 it will connect owners at the Towers at Mattie Rose to awesome amenities in Elizabeth, Plaza Midwood & Uptown with a short street car ride!
